In 2023-24, the unthinkable happened. Deer Creek-Mackinaw went 32-3, recording the best season in school history – after doing so the year before at 30-6 – before falling to eventual Class 2A state champion Peoria Notre Dame in the sectional championship.
The Chiefs come into the season led by junior all-stater Dalia Dejesus, and having the program's first four-senior team in Joni Nightingale’s varsity head coaching career. Dee-Mack also boasts plenty of options in the rest of its starting lineup and on the bench, giving steam to the possibility that the Chiefs could even improve on last year’s record-breaking mark.
