2025 Baseball Preview: Morton remains near top of Mid-Illini behind one of area’s best arms

There are several baseball squads in Central Illinois that have built a reputation as being good every season, no matter who the nine players in the lineup are.


The Morton Potters fit that bill, as they’ve averaged 28 wins per season each year in the last decade. They’ve also built a pipeline of success with their junior high programs routinely making deep runs in the state playoffs. 


Morton will lean on some of its newer talent to replace a handful of last season’s key starters, but the Potters boast some familiar names to lead them, including ace Ryan Schaffnit plus all-conference selections Hudson Lovell and Brandon Sieben.
