Bevy of shooters guiding Washington boys hoops

PEKIN – Anyone who turns on an NBA game nowadays will notice a startling trend: 3-point shots are becoming more prevalent than they’ve been before. 


The game at the professional level has evolved into a more spaced-out, free-flowing, positionless type of basketball focused around the arc. The Washington Panthers boys basketball team has adopted a perimeter-oriented mindset this season as well and hope that a talented group of shooters can take them far. 


Washington’s prowess from deep was on display in a 56-39 Mid-Illini victory over Pekin on Dec. 13 by sinking 11 triples in its first win of the season.
