BLOOMINGTON — Senior year oftentimes flies by for high schoolers. One minute is having your senior pictures taken and the next is walking across the stage at graduation.

AJ Codron, Gurvir Singh and Rob Lanier know the feeling but they’re hoping their final year on the high school football field for Bloomington feels much slower as it’s shaping up to be the best one yet.

Those three were sophomores on a Purple Raiders squad that went 3-6 in 2022, prolonging its playoff drought to three seasons, excluding the 2020-21 Covid season. At that time, they were stuck in conference purgatory; good enough to win a few games but not enough to be in the conference title conversation.

Now, they’ve led the Purple Raiders to gaining a seat at the table as they carry a 5-0 record and a number next to their school’s name into a key conference clash with Normal Community on Friday night.
