Through two-thirds of the football season, there’s a lot that has and hasn’t been decided in Central Illinois.
What has been decided? Nine area teams have already locked up playoff berths with eight teams currently sitting at 4-2 hoping to join them. Big wins for Farmington and Normal Community last week didn’t guarantee conference championships, but boded well for their hopes.
Another thing that’s been apparent is the strong quarterback play across the area. Normal U-High’s Alek Weiland, Farmington’s Lane Wheelwright, Normal Community’s Kyle Beaty, Peoria High’s Breon Green and Princeville’s Jake Williams are just a small smattering of the high-level QB talent around Peoria and Bloomington/Normal.
What’s still left to be decided? A couple big games down the stretch, including Friday’s Mid-Illini clash between Dunlap and Washington, which will be streamed as our WMBD Game of the Week on ciproud.com, will provide more clarity as to who the conference champions will be.
