The third week of the IHSA football season in the Peoria and Bloomington/Normal area was a wild one with multiple games decided by one point, teams pulling off state-ranked wins and scoreboard operators getting a workout.
With the dust settled, two new teams have taken over the top spot in both CSM’s large school and small school power rankings and three teams joined the top five ranks for the first time this season.
Six of the 10 teams ranked carry 3-0 records into Week 4, but many will have to work to keep their mark unblemished as Normal Community takes on fellow state-ranked power Kankakee, Bloomington clashes with 2-1 Normal West and Eureka faces HOCI stalwart El Paso-Gridley.
The rankings are split up between small schools and large schools with teams from the Mid-Illini and Big 12 making up the large schools while every other area school falls into the small school rankings. Other teams receiving consideration are listed as well.
