Playoff spots are ready to be clinched this Friday across Illinois as week five of the IHSA football season looms. Many of the teams that could secure their postseason spot made the top five in their respective rankings in the weekly CSM power rankings.
Eight teams in the area are 4-0 through four weeks after Normal Community’s loss to Kankakee in week four and that number will decrease by at least one as undefeateds Farmington and Elmwood/Brimfield face off on Friday.
This week’s rankings feature a pair of Heart of Central Illinois teams moving up and a new team cracking the top five in the large school rankings.
The rankings are split up between small schools and large schools with teams from the Mid-Illini and Big 12 making up the large schools while every other area school falls into the small school rankings. Other teams receiving consideration are listed as well.
