The fifth week of the IHSA football season took CSM’s Central Illinois football power rankings and tossed them like a salad, leading to major turnover in this week’s edition.
Normal U-High and Peoria High, both No. 1 teams last week, suffered close losses while five teams in the rankings posted dominant shutout wins. A pair of new teams entered the rankings as well and many legitimate contenders lurk even outside of the top five in the small school and large school rankings.
All four teams in the area that clinched playoff eligibility – namely Bloomington, Eureka, Farmington and Princeville – all moved up while three 4-1 teams and three 3-2 teams all found spots as well.
