If one thing is clear, it’s that Central Illinois has multiple state title contenders in softball at just about every level.

The best of the area’s small school teams kept on winning within the last week and the Mid-Illini’s best continued to beat up on each other, a trend that could very well continue the rest of the season.

The area also boasts many players with big-time talent, such as Illini Bluffs’ Sara Finn, Dunlap’s Sutton Centoni, Brimfield/Elmwood’s CJ Troxell, Olympia’s Danika Frazier and many others. All of them have helped their teams sustain more than a handful of momentum as the regular season’s end draws closer, especially for Class 1A and 2A teams.

Playoff seedings and brackets were announced for those smaller classes, with the postseason kicking off on May 13. However, there’s still a bit of softball left to be played, and power rankings left to read.

There are separate rankings of the top five teams for small schools and large schools below. All schools in the Mid-Illini and Big 12 fall into the “large school” rankings while all others fall into the “small school rankings”, in order to maintain an equal number of teams in the CSM coverage area between the two.
