CSM Boys Basketball Power Rankings, Jan. 6, 2025: Major shakeups seen in tightly-packed bunch

The first Clutch Sports Media boys basketball power rankings of 2025 look a lot different than they did to finish 2024. 


Mid-Illini and Big 12 teams continued to beat up on each other, with recent games featuring East Peoria, Manual and Peoria High all having a major effect on the latest rankings. Morton and Metamora are locked in a battle for the Mid-Illini that might as well be a coin flip at this point after both teams performed well in their holiday tournaments.


The State Farm Holiday Classic and Williamsville Holiday Tournament had a pronounced effect on shifts in the small school rankings, where two new teams joined the top five. 



Teams from the Mid-Illini and Big 12 make up the large school rankings while every other area school falls into the small school category. Teams receiving consideration are listed as well.
