Escaping the rough: PND’s Coulter putting it all together with hopes of returning to state

PEORIA — He’s only a sophomore, but it feels like Peoria Notre Dame golfer Jack Coulter has been a dominant force in Central Illinois for much longer. 


A freshman season saw him lead the Irish to a strong regular season that culminated in multiple wins and a regional championship. Coulter also qualified for state as an individual and made the cut while finishing 27th overall. 


But golf is rarely a linear game and no path to success is ever without its bumps and turns in the road. The PND sophomore admittedly encountered them over this past season, but is back on one of the highest of notes after winning Wednesday’s Class 2A East Peoria Regional at Kellogg Golf Course.
