DEER CREEK — The Deer Creek-Mackinaw Chiefs (5-4, 3-4 in Heart of Central Illinois Large) clinched playoff eligibility and in all likelihood, an IHSA playoff berth with their 30-8 win over Ridgeview-Lexington (2-7, 1-6) on Friday night.

The Chiefs earned the fifth win threshold of the season over the Mustangs which all but guarantees that Dee-Mack will play in the playoff tournament for the 31st time in its storied program history.

“Our kids just fight tooth and nail,” head coach Cody Myers said. “Then to finish those drives in the fourth quarter is just exactly what needed to happen to finish it at home and get in the playoffs tonight.”
