KANKAKEE – When Normal Community traveled up to Kankakee, they were doing so as a team who had been flat out dominant in their first three games of the season, outscoring their first three opponents 159-19.
Friday night’s 26-13 loss to the Class 6A No. 4 Kays did not feature the same dominant Ironmen that people have become accustomed to as Normal Community was held scoreless for the first time all season in the first half and couldn’t complete the comeback despite two second-half scores.
“They’re really good,” Ironmen head coach Jason Drengwitz said of Kankakee. “They’re really talented and well coached and they do a lot of good things. We made some errors that I think are easily correctable.”
