“Just make a save”: Penalty kick heroics from Walliker, Winne give Washington soccer jubilant sectional semifinal victory over Dunlap

DUNLAP, IL – A year ago, Logan Walliker probably would not have expected the situation he would be in.

The Washington athlete was a star on the Panthers’ swim team and had played soccer as a freshman, but chose to make the pool his focus for his sophomore and junior seasons. 

But before his senior year, he decided to return to the pitch and it led to the Washington goalkeeper making two saves in a heart-stopping penalty kick shootout to beat vaunted Mid-Illini Conference rival Dunlap in the Class 2A Dunlap Sectional semifinals.
