In the 2023-24 season, Richwoods was one of the scariest teams to face not just in the Big 12, but around the state. With its deep senior class, the Knights made a run to the Class 3A state tournament that the program will never forget.

Richwoods featured plenty of talented homegrown players that began during their freshman year, players like Tavie Smith and Jared Jackson.

But when Lathan Sommerville transferred back to his hometown for his final year of high school basketball, it put Richwoods in the driver's seat to create their own destiny in a “Last Dance” type of season where it won 30 games for the fourth time in program history and finished third in Class 3A.

“That team had been built for some years,” head coach William Smith said. “We liked them when they were freshmen, we knew we we’re gonna grow with them and they really got better. Of course, we added them other additions for their senior campaign.”

Everyone knew big changes were coming for the 2024-25 season with the amount of roster turnover that occurred from graduating 10 seniors. However, Smith was excited that the next group would have a good spot to pick up from.
