METAMORA — Metamora golf coach Mike Brockhouse had one goal on his mind Wednesday morning; one that would require one of the team’s best days of the season.
Competing in a strong field featuring Morton, East Peoria and Peoria Notre Dame, the hardware at the Class 2A East Peoria Regional was going to have to be hard-earned.
But the red numbers on the scorecard and birdies fittingly came together for the Redbirds, who shot a 313 and walked away from Kellogg Golf Course as regional champions for the first time in program history.
