The third Associated Press statewide prep basketball rankings since the calendar turned to 2025 were released on Wednesday with 15 area teams either ranked or receiving votes.
One-third of that group were in the Class 2A girls poll and five area Heart of Illinois teams received votes in either the boys or girls poll.
Morton and Metamora’s boys teams rose slightly in Class 3A while two Peoria powers fell in the boys rankings.
Four Central Illinois teams put themselves on the radar for the top 10 by receiving votes after not garnering any in the previous week, including Princeville’s boys team which is riding a big win streak.
