MORTON – Morton head coach Adam O’Neill and his team knew that they were in control of their own playoff destiny entering Friday’s game against Dunlap at Carper Field.

The Potters (4-4, 4-2) used a strong ground attack and stellar defense to power its way to a 39-14 home win over the Eagles (5-3, 3-3) on Senior Night. After starting the year 1-4, then pulling three straight wins, Morton will visit Mid-Illini Conference leader Washington (6-2, 6-0) on Friday at 7:30 p.m. for a chance at a playoff berth.

“The message has always been the same that we have to continue to get better. We had some tough injuries at the beginning of the year, but now that some guys have stepped up and moved around, we are settled in after a few weeks,” O’Neill said. “These kids have been fantastic, we just keep going to work and I could not be more proud of them.”
