NORMAL, IL. – Calen Taylor must’ve felt like he carried the entire Twin Cities on his back on Friday night.
With the Ironmen locked in a high-level duel with Prospect in the second round of the Class 7A quarterfinals at Dick Tharp Field, Taylor scored five touchdowns — including the go-ahead score with less than two minutes left — to help his team prevail 52-49 in an all-time classic.
Taylor would go on to rush for nearly 250 rushing yards to keep Normal Community’s season and his high school career alive for at least on more week.
“He’s special,” Normal Community head coach Jason Drengwitz. “To win games like this, your best players got to play well.”
