Reinhart, Normal West end Ironmen’s streak: ‘Just a bunch of fighters’

NORMAL — Chase Reinhart had April 23 circled on his calendar for a while.
Normal West’s star sophomore pitcher had already led the Wildcats to plenty of big victories in his young career. He had put up more than a handful of quality starts, but one thing he and the Wildcats hadn’t done for just over three calendar years was beat crosstown rival Normal Community.
On the date that he circled, Reinhart helped change that, tossing a complete game shutout in a 3-0 victory over Normal Community, ending the Ironmen’s 28-game win streak in Big 12 play.
“I know this team is really, really good, and I was really looking forward to this game this week,” Reinhart said. “I had a lot of confidence going into it as well.”
