Sleepless nights, the waiting game and a playoff under sunset: U-High duo, Normal Community’s Siegrist shake off pressure to advance to state

NORMAL, Ill. – Normal U-High junior Natalie Ocheltree couldn’t sleep much Sunday night but it wasn’t in fear of school the next day. 


The Pioneers’ golfer, gone from a middle-of-the-lineup golfer to a star on a perennially successful team, was nervous for Monday’s Class 2A sectional at Weibring Golf Course, where tickets to the state finals would be handed out. 


She and Normal U-High teammate Paige Fischer made sure they were one of the first in line, each carding a nine-over 80 to advance to Decatur as individuals.
