High school baseball season is officially here and every team is beginning their journey to either Joliet (Class 3A and 4A) or Peoria (Class 1A and 2A) for the state finals.

Our conference outlooks kick off with Mid-Illini baseball, a haven for some of the best in baseball that Central Illinois has to offer. Last year, three teams won 20 or more games and all others looked sharp at one point or another. In the end, it was Washington finishing atop the conference for the third consecutive year.

With a good amount of talent returning, the conference could be wide open down the stretch with more than four teams in the mix for the Mid-Illini crown, as well as a deep postseason run. Below, we take a look at the top returners, breakout candidates, and games to watch for each team in the Mid-Illini conference. Schools are listed alphabetically.
