State wrestling preview: Washington’s Medlin, East Peoria look to finish season strong in Champaign

Washington’s Wyatt Medlin is heading into his final IHSA State Finals with a target on his back. 


He’s a defending state champion, sectional champion and wrestles for one of the most successful teams in the Land of Lincoln. He’s embracing everything that comes with it. 


“It’s pressure but pressure is a privilege,” Medlin said. “That's kind of been the motto this year with me, Peyton [Cox], Josh Hoffer and a lot of our top-ranked guys. We're getting it put on the back of a T-shirt for state ‘Pressure is privilege.’’
