A loaded Friday of high school sports in Central Illinois featured top-notch action in boys basketball, plus the first day of sectionals in boys and girls wrestling.

On the hardwood, Normal Community won a grueling four-overtime game against Richwoods while Dee-Mack and Bloomington Central Catholic earned significant upset victories. Metamora, Peoria Notre Dame, Tremont and Normal U-High also won notable conference games and two Inter-County Conference stars reached 1,000 career points.

The first day of boys and girls sectional wrestling kicked off with 53 area grapplers reaching the semifinals and many more still alive in consolation rounds.
