The Roundup, Feb. 5, 2025: East Peoria, Metamora, Morton boys win on quiet night of hoops

Icy roads in Central Illinois prompted the cancellation or postponement of many games but three Mid-Illini boys games still took place with the top three teams in the conference all earning victories.

In boys basketball


East Peoria 54, Washington 46: East Peoria (18-7, 7-4 Mid-Illini) gutted out a tough conference win on the road against Washington (7-17, 4-7) in a game that was competitive throughout. Quinton Kitt had another big showing for the Raiders with 20 points and 12 rebounds while Cole DuBois was right behind with 18 points. Washington’s Luke Kamienski led his team with 14 and Andre Lewis added 14.


Metamora 63, Pekin 48: Metamora (22-6, 10-1 Mid-Illini) had multiple players step up with Matthew Zobrist out due to sickness in a win over Pekin (8-15, 1-10). Jonah Funk made a living near the rim to lead the Redbirds with 22 points. Freshman Brady Jones added 18 and Colin Ramage poured in an extra 12 in the victory. Peyton Hess led all Dragons with 21 points and Owen Gordon was also in double figures with 10. 


Morton 76, Limestone 41: Morton (19-5, 10-1 Mid-Illini) flexed its muscle in a big win over Limestone (11-12, 5-6) at the Potterdome to win its 17th straight game. Wes Gudeman paced the Potters with 18, Collin Burns scored 12 and Tripp Rugaard added 11.
