It was a cold day, but the basketball remained hot all day long. With schools off for the day in remembrance of Martin Luther King Jr., teams competed in shootouts, tournaments and high-level non-conference games across Central Illinois.
The Mid-Illini girls basketball teams completed a six-game sweep over teams from the Big Twelve in the inaugural Mid-Illini/Big 12 Shootout. The Heart of Illinois Conference Tournament saw the cream of the crop rise to the top heading into the semifinal round. Metamora and Peoria Notre Dame’s boys teams were among the day’s headliners as well.
