Multiple eye-opening contests in boys basketball were played on Tuesday with more than a handful of teams picking up highly important victories with some winning (and falling) in upsets.
Morton handled Metamora by double digits in a state-ranked battle to avenge an earlier loss to the Redbirds while Canton shocked East Peoria. Limestone and Washington also gritted out tough wins in Mid-Illini play.
Brimfield and Fieldcrest both passed strong tests. El Paso-Gridley and Princeville were threatened and suffered differing fates. Four area girls basketball teams won, including Morton and Normal Community. Normal West won the Intercity title in boys swim and dive.
