The first day of action in the 2025 baseball, softball and girls soccer was worth the wait with several nail-biters, slugfests and strong showings across Central Illinois.
Normal West and Peoria Notre Dame baseball both earned one-run victories over strong opponents while strong pitching performances led Pekin and Limestone to victories. Bloomington Central Catholic softball won a crazy game against Normal West and two other games went to extra innings. Dunlap and Limestone both earned wins to open the year in girls soccer.
