There was no shortage of action involving area baseball and softball teams on Wednesday, even though half of the games were played in warmer locations such as Tennessee, Georgia and Florida as many teams competed on spring break trips.

Among the day’s highlights were top-notch pitching performances from Morton’s Ryan Schaffnit, IVC’s Max Gregory, East Peoria’s RJ Duncheon, Canton’s Tori Birch, Dunlap’s Sutton Centoni and more. Peoria Notre Dame, Normal West and Canton took victories in both baseball and softball while Metamora beat Illini Bluffs in a battle of state contenders in softball.

Check out all the scores, recaps and top performers from the day in The Roundup!
