Friday’s slate of high school sports in Central Illinois featured walk-off wins, big two-way performances in softball, several champions at the season’s biggest indoor track meet and even a visit from Limestone legend Jim Thome.

Pekin and Tri-Valley walked off wins on the baseball diamond while Tremont, PND and Eureka all played strong ball. Dunlap and Limestone faced a pair of state title-worthy teams from Chicagoland as well. Bloomington’s Reilly Vetter had an unforgettable performance in a shutout win over Kankakee while Canton and Bloomington Central Catholic stayed hot in softball.

The state’s best track and field athletes from Class 1A descended upon Illinois Wesleyan for the Illinois Top Times Meet, which featured multiple champions from the area.
