The Roundup, March 7, 2025: Trifecta in Peoria as three city teams win sectional crowns, Washington girls finish third

Three boys basketball teams from Peoria are headed to the elite eight after winning sectional championships on Friday and moving one win away from a state berth.


Peoria Christian won in a down-to-the-wire matchup against Princeville while Peoria High knocked off Metamora and Manual went on the road to win in a true road game at Sherrard.


Washington’s girls basketball team finished an unforgettable season with a third-place trophy and Normal Community boys fell in overtime after making a late fourth-quarter comeback.
