The Roundup, Nov. 1, 2024: PND downs reigning state champ, eight area teams advance in first-round playoff football games

The opening night of playoff football saw thrilling finishes, huge performances and a handful of blowout victories with eight Central Illinois teams claiming their spot in the second round of the playoffs. 


Peoria Notre Dame shocked many across the state with a dramatic one-point win over Rochester in overtime, while Peoria High, Elmwood/Brimfield and Eureka all shook off slower starts to pull away and win. Dunlap nearly pulled off a big upset on the road against Oak Lawn Richards, Tri-Valley moved past Bloomington/Normal-area foe BCC while Normal Community, Normal U-High and Washington all won big.
