Just two fall sports teams in Central Illinois remain after Saturday’s abbreviated, but impactful slate of action.

Farmington and Normal U-High moved into the state semifinals in football thanks to well-rounded efforts leading to comfortable victories on the road. Both Big 12 teams – Normal Community and Peoria High – were eliminated after losses to perennial Chicago Catholic League powerhouses.

Area teams were held without a win on the final day of IHSA state volleyball with Bloomington Central Catholic and Limestone seeing early leads evaporate into second-place finishes and El Paso-Gridley finishing the season taking fourth place in Class 2A.
