The 2023-24 high school sports season in Central Illinois was filled with countless highlights, accomplishments and star athletes.
Many will have their own ways to remember the year. Perhaps it was a conference that was loaded with many of the area’s best teams, a season-defining shot, spike, touchdown or goal, or an unforgettable playoff run. Taking all of the best moments across all sports for 30 area teams and picking out the top 10 is difficult, much less ranking them.
While answers to the question of “what were the best stories of the year?” are subjective, there were a few that stood above the rest. Records were matched (or broken), titles were won and athletes pushed the limits of what can be accomplished.
