WASHINGTON, IL – For the first time since they won the state championship in the 2011-12 season, the Peoria High Lions are sectional champions.

The Lions outlasted the Metamora Redbirds 57-48 in front of a sold-out Torry Gymnasium in Washington to earn the sectional crown. Peoria High improved to 29-4 overall, while Metamora saw a great season conclude with an overall record of 28-5.

Peoria High head coach Daniel Ruffin sensed the nervousness coming out of his Lions before the game and had an inspiring message to his ballclub before the game.
