WASHINGTON – One of the most historic gyms in Central Illinois is getting a facelift over the next few months.
Washington High School’s 61-year-old Torry Gym will receive an array of improvements, including a new floor and lower-level bleachers. The high school’s athletics account posted renderings of how the new space will look on the social media platform, X, on Friday afternoon.
“It’s exciting,” Washington athletic director Joe Alstat said. “It's going to obviously take some time, and we're hoping that it'll be ready by volleyball season.”
