Washington’s MacGregor, Dunlap’s Dixon win CSM Spring Athletes of the Week

After a week of voting that saw the most votes casted in the history of Clutch Sports Media’s Athletes of the Week, Washington’s Addy MacGregor and Dunlap’s Tommy Dixon became the latest winners of the honor.
MacGregor helped Washington softball’s hot start by delivering a walk-off home run in a win over Metamora and sustaining her prowess at the plate in several more games, while Dixon led the Eagles’ boys lacrosse team in its second win of the season in an efficient outing against Homewood-Flossmoor.

MacGregor won CSM Girls Athlete of the Week after receiving 57 percent of the total votes in the girls poll. The Washington catcher drove a two-run homer to earn a walk-off 6-4 win in extra innings over Metamora on April 8 after hitting an RBI double earlier in the contest. She had two hits, including a double, in a 12-2 win over Pekin on April 10 and drove in two runs on two hits in a 6-2 triumph over East Moline United on April 12. Since then, MacGregor helped the Panthers win the Washington Panther Classic on April 18-19, going 6-for-12 with three doubles and five RBIs during the tournament.

What’s been your favorite memory of the season so far?
“I love all of the team bonding moments, but winning the Panther Classic and my walkoff home run against Metamora might be my favorites.”
If you had to be stranded on an island with a teammate, who would it be and why?
“[Tara] Alois, because she can make anyone laugh and there would never be a dull moment.”
Favorite music artist?
“I’ll listen to almost everything!”
Favorite food?
“Buttered noodles or Dairy Queen chicken tenders.”
Do you have any pregame routines/rituals?
“We always pray as a team and lock pinkies for the national anthem.”
Who’s your favorite college or professional athlete?
“I love watching Sis Bates, because she always has a positive attitude and brings her teammates up.”
Do you have any hidden talents?
“No, I unfortunately don’t.”
Who’s your role model and why?
“My summer teammate Brea Murphy. She is unable to play because of sickness, but it has never changed her positive attitude and courage during this time.”
Dixon won CSM Boys Athlete of the Week after receiving 47 percent of the votes in the boys poll. The senior attacker led Dunlap to its second win of the season, scoring a team-high six goals in a 20-3 win over Homewood-Flossmoor on April 12. Dixon needed just eight shots to reach that total and leads the Eagles with 17 goals to go with seven assists on the season.
