A pair of Mid-Illini golfers earned the honors of being the first CSM Athletes of the Week Presented by Dominos of the 2024-25 season.
Washington’s Gavin Schreurs and Pekin’s Leah Brown both helped make history during the week of Aug. 19-25, whether it was a personal or team record. Both golfers have been stalwarts of their respective teams, which are both among the tops in the Mid-Illini.

Schreurs won CSM Boys Athlete of the Week by garnering 41 percent of the vote total in the boys poll. The Panthers junior was the top golfer out of a strong field of area talent at Peoria Notre Dame’s Mickey Schallau Invite on Aug. 19, firing a career low 67 (-5). His round was propelled by birdies on holes 2, 3, 15, 16 and 17 while simultaneously going bogey-free. At the Raider Cup Challenge – a two-person team event – on Aug. 22, he and Washington teammate Court Bohanon took third place at Quail Meadows Golf Club.
