NORMAL – Limestone has done something that no other team in the Mid-Illini has done before.
The Rockets put their early nerves to bed, relied on their wide array of playmakers and played a cleaner match than their opposition to become the first school from their conference to reach a state championship game in volleyball after a 25-18, 25-15 win over Crystal Lake Prairie Ridge in the Class 3A State Semifinals.
Limestone already had made history this postseason, winning just their second sectional title ever and reaching state for the first time. How does making more history feel?
“It feels amazing, I’m just very, very proud of our team and the execution they had on the court tonight, we believed in us,” Limestone head coach Shelly Stoner said. “We worked all season for this and turned it on at the right time.”
