With heavy hearts, Central Catholic girls marching on into sectionals

After coming off a Class 2A regional title last season, Bloomington Central Catholic girls basketball has come back swinging again this year after another Illini Prairie Conference title.


The Saints added to their title count, winning its second straight regional crown and 17th under head coach Debbie Coffman on Feb. 20 in a 60-43 win over Tremont. 


“We knew it was going to be a tough game, Tremont’s a very good team being in the regional championship,” Coffman said. “They're very tall as well and we're kind of small so I was really worried about the height advantage and rebounding for us, but I thought that our press created some offense by getting some steals and converting them into transition points.”
